Scientists need to deal with copyright, but most have no training in how the law works. When you publish, you often end up signing over the rights to your text, images, and diagrams for decades to come. But there are ways of protecting your creative work so that you can reuse it without having to go begging to a publisher – I'll show you how, and incidentally give you a crash course in the New Zealand Copyright Act 1994.
